how minimalism can help us focus on what matters most

To my fellow aspiring minimalist…here’s what I’ve l asked myself when I first started simplifying.

  • Ryan, are you tired of feeling overwhelmed by the never-ending stream of stuff that seems to be taking over your life? Uh, yes…
  • Ryan, do you find yourself constantly chasing the next shiny object, only to realize that it doesn’t bring you the joy and fulfillment you thought it would? Oh shoot….yes I do.

You too? Okay cool, glad I’m not alone. Fear not, my friend. Minimalism is here for us!!

By simplifying my space and letting go of things that didn’t bring me joy or serve a purpose in my life, I’ve been able to create a sense of calm and clarity that allows me to focus on what really matters. For the last month, that’s been implementing a very solid workout routine. Usually 3-4 days a week. Before I decluttered, it didn’t feel possible AT ALL to carve out time for this.

Now, before you roll your eyes and think “Oh great, another preaching minimalist”, hear me out. I get it. And I more so consider myself an aspiring minimalist. The idea of living with less can seem daunting, even scary. But the truth is, simplifying our things is not about depriving yourself of things you love. It’s about creating space for the things that truly matter, and letting go of the rest.

Think about it. When you’re surrounded by clutter and chaos, it’s hard to focus on what really matters. You’re constantly distracted by the pile of laundry that needs to be done, the stack of bills on your desk, or the toys that seem to multiply every time you turn your back. THIS was my life. To a tee. But when I decluttered our space and simplified things, I created a sense of calm and clarity that allowed me to focus on the things that really matter.

So, how can minimalism help you focus on what matters most? Here are a few ways:

It helps you identify your priorities

When you start to declutter your space and simplify your life, you naturally start to think about what’s really important to you. You start to question why you have certain things, and whether they truly bring you joy or serve a purpose in your life. This process helps you identify your priorities and focus on the things that really matter to you.

It frees up your time and energy

When you’re not constantly managing your stuff, you have more time and energy to focus on the things that really matter to you. You can spend more time with your family, pursue hobbies and interests that bring you joy, or focus on your career or personal development.

It reduces feelings of stress and anxiety

Let’s face it, clutter and chaos can be stressful. When you’re surrounded by stuff, it’s hard to relax and feel at peace. But when you declutter your space and simplify your life, you create a sense of calm and serenity that can help reduce stress and anxiety.

It helps you live more intentionally

Minimalism is all about living intentionally. When you’re intentional about what you bring into your life, you can focus on the things that truly matter to you. You can make choices that align with your values and priorities, and live a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.

So, there you have it. Minimalism can help you focus on what matters most by helping you identify your priorities, freeing up your time and energy, and helping you live more intentionally. And the best part? You don’t have to become a minimalist overnight. You can start small, decluttering one room or one category of items at a time, and see how it feels. Trust me, once you start to experience the benefits of minimalism, you’ll be hooked.

So, what are you waiting for? Can you go simplify one small space in your home for 10 minutes? This is all it takes to get a sense of the feeling that comes when you start to make your entire home this way.

xoxo,

ryan
